Coppola Keratin Keyword: Hair …
Posted by admin on October 8th, 2010Keyword: Hair Treatment – Part 1Adjust font-size: Published August 09, 2009 by: | | OK, so I have been fighting with my frizzy, curly, damaged hair for years! I have always had to blow dry it, then flat iron it every day or at least when I wanted to look halfway decent. I don’t know why I never looked into straightening before, but one day I decided to do some research on the internet. After days of research I came across a straightening process called the Coppola Keratin Complex Treatment. Unlike the Brazilian and Japanese straightening systems, this one is semi-permanent. It lasts anywhere from 3-6 months. There are good and bad things about this treatment that I will go over. In my opinion, this treatment has made my life easier (I know, sad that a hair treatment can change a life). First, let’s tell you more about the treatment and the differences between this treatment and other straightening processes. Coppola, unlike other straightening treatment, does not use formaldehyde, but instead uses Aldehydes, which are supposed to be safer. It is also not permanent and wears out gradually after three to six months depending on your hair type and what you do to it. I am naming this review “Part 1″ because I am at the end of my third week after the treatment and will write another review once it starts to “wear off”. Ok so before I go into how much I am in love with this treatment so far, I will go into exactly what the process is and my experience with it. First I made sure that the salon I went to was using the Coppola Keratin Complex Treatment (Keratin Complex smoothing therapy by Coppola), this is very important because there are many different treatments that have similar names such as the Brazilian Keratin Treatment. To make sure you can call the local distributor and ask them what salons they distribute to in your area. You can visit http://www.keratincomplex.com/for the phone number and details on that. I found it $120/8 oz bottle. My hair was naturally curly, kinky and coarse. I used 3 oz and followed the directions on the bottle. I previously had it done in March 10 and June 10 at Ulta paying $195 each time. The first time they used 2oz and they tell you if they need more it’s $30 extra. The second time she only used 1.5 oz and it was not enough product. They make their $$ on the product on. $780 for 4 treatments from an 8oz bottle and I got 4 treatments for $30. It turned out as perfect as the salon. I would advise to purchase this online. DDG(Guest)07/05/2010 I’m so interested in this process – i would love to hear from someone with kinky hair who has tried the process? if you have kinky hair – please share your story! thank you!!! 05/27/2010 Mr. T, That is very interesting because I am very sensitive, I break out and get hives and this treatment did not affect me in any way. Your comment really concerns me! I have done it twice and I have done research and I haven’t found any evidence that it is dangerous but I am going to do a bunch more research on the ingredients now!Where did you find info on the Coppola Smoothing Treatment specifically being a health risk? Please respond thanks! Mr.T(Guest)05/24/2010 I am a stylist of 10 years…I have used African American relaxers for a while, perms, u name it…our salon heard about the Coppola smoothing treatment and were excited to try it. During our training, our model during the blowdry part of the system said her nose was burning, her eyes were burning, and her inside of her chest was burning. The trainer said she was just “sensitive.” After her, we had another stylist try the treatment. Same results, burnining smell, irritation of the eye…after she went home, she called me and said her eye had swell like she had a black eye..where her bangs touched her forehead..and she couldn’t pull it back..so …the treatment works…it does what it says…I am for it…but, I did some research and found out that there are lots! of health risks! so I informed my boss, and we took it off our shelves…. 05/12/2010 Jessica My hair felt actually better a few weeks after because at first it was very flat to the head then as weeks go on it got volume but stayed frizz free and straight. I will be writing abut my second time soon! Its not as exciting though since my hair was still nice from the first time and the place i went to because it was ‘on sale’ didn’t use enough product in my opinion. more to come… 05/12/2010 HI, just wanted to add Ingredients from bottle: Water, Trionic Keratin Protein, Cyclomethicone, Dimethicone, Guar Gum, Alkyl Caprylyl Methicone, Phenyl Silsesquioxanes, Xanthan Gum, p-benzoquinone, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Glyceryl monococate, Glycol Distearate, Thiazoidinecarboxylic Acid, Ferrous Oxides, Octanal. Jessica(Guest)05/11/2010 Kali – now, 9 months after the treatment, tell us how long did it last? was your hair as nice 2 months after the initial treatment as it was a week after it was done? I’m still afraid of doing this treatment and need your help. Thanks. Ms.Wright(Guest)05/11/2010 The truth about “Formaldehyde Free” keratin treatments is – they may contain “Gluteraldehyde” (which is ‘another aldehyde’)… go to Wiki, search it and be amazed to know how much a user is worse off with a product containing this so-called ‘aldehyde’… To quote wikipedia: “Glutaraldehyde is toxic and can cause severe eye, nose, throat and lung irritation, along with headaches, drowsiness and dizziness. It is a main source of occupational asthma among health care providers”. Also you should know that Glutaraldehyde may be listed under any of the following names to veil its presence (This is currently legally acceptable practice.): aldehyde glutarique , Aldesan , Alhydex , Cidex, Lutaric dialdehyde, Hospex, Odix…. Before you let a stylist use any product on you – demand to see the ingredients’ list on the bottle. If it’s not on the bottle you should say NO. 01/04/2010 Yes I ordered the deep conditioner online and of course it was sold out so I will have to pick it up at Ulta. Oh and regarding coloring I colored my hair and it didn’t affect my keratin treatment at all. I think they say wait two-three weeks just to be safe. It is also best to color and highlight your hair right before your keratin because it keeps the color in. I did it this last time and it looks great so far. I have been so busy but hope to write about my second experience soon. Keep checking back. Sara(Guest)01/04/2010 I just used the Coppola Vanilla deep conditioner and love it!!Comments 1 – 10 (of 16)12 | | | | | | | | | | | | | | © 2010 Associated Content, Inc. Shine
